A nice copy bearing the bookplate of Grace Whitney Hoff and a handwritten note indicating that this copy came from the Library at Maison de Saint-Cyr the school that Madame de Maintenon founded and to which she retired after the death of her husband Louis XVI. In 1683 Queen Marie-Theresa (1638-1863) died and Louis XVI secretly married Francoise d'Aubigne Marchioness of Maintenon to whom this book is dedicated.
