This lot is a life-size replica of the Ergastinai (or "Weavers") Frieze, a fragment of the east frieze of the Parthenon, the only such fragment in the Louvre. The original fragment was acquired by the Earl of Choiseul-Gouffier in 1784 and was seized during the French Revolution.
