Estimate ?200-300 Oil on original canvas which is sagging a little otherwise slightly dirty with fine but stable craquelure running through much of the work notably the blue and white of the sky signed lower left and also signed and inscribed with title verso. FRAMED 31.5" X 39".VICTOR DE GRAILLY, New York/France, 1804-1889, "Dover Plains, Dutchess County, New York". Unsigned. Asher B. Durand (1796-1886) painted "Dover Plains, Dutchess County, New York" in 1848, and due to its immense success, James Smillie (1807-1885) made an engraving of it for the American Art Union in 1850. This print was likely the source material for De Grailly. A similar painting by De Grailly is currently in the collection of the New York State Historical Society.
