A Pair of Miniature Portraits, 18th
A Pair of Miniature Portraits, 18th Century Most probably by the same hand, the portraits are of a handsome man in a military garb and a pretty young lady in a frilly Empire style dress, each measuring approx. 3"D, each encased in a metal mount with convex glass and a circular wood frame overall approx. 4-1/2"D. Neither appear to be signed but they are very delicately painted in oil on a thin ivory surface pasted to a paper support.

McCollister graduated from the Columbus School of Art (Ohio) in 1932 and went on to become the first person to be awarded a degree in Fine Arts from the Ringling College of Art and Design (Sarasota Florida) in April 1937. Throughout her long career she explored a breadth of artistic styles including Impressionism abstract traditional landscape and portraiture.
