EDGEFIELD DISTRICT, SC, (ATTRIBUTED POTTERSVILLE MANUFACTORY, 1850S), TWO GALLON JAR Brown-black alkaline ash glaze, having a slightly rounded rim over highly placed lug handles, the ovoid body has a more distinct taper than usually seen in Edgefield pots. The two slash marks below the rim indicate potter was likely an African-American.
