A LOUIS PHILIPPE CARVED MAHOGANY BUREAU CYLINDRE, CIRCA...A LOUIS PHILIPPE CARVED MAHOGANY BUREAU CYLINDRE, CIRCA 1840s, with a rectangular three drawer top above a cylinder door opening to a row of three short drawers within two long open compartments, over a gilt tooled blue leather inset writing surface within a sliding frame on a kneehole desk with one single long drawer flanked by short stacked drawers, raised on double ringed tapering circular reeded legs, lozenge form bronze escutcheons mounted throughout, includes eight keys. A NEO GREC GILT BRONZE MOUNTED GREEN AGATE CLOCK AND PA...A NEO GREC GILT BRONZE MOUNTED GREEN AGATE CLOCK AND PAIR OF "AFTER THE ANTIQUE" BRASS OIL LAMPS, FRENCH, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, with a stylized circular urn surmounted by a shaped loop form finial and flanked by reticulated scrolling branches supported by a foliate detailed foot, mounted on a architectural case with a stepped rectangular cornice over a conforming face flanked by columnar pilasters centering a circular beaded bezel, opening to a white enamel dial enclosing black Arabic numerals partitioned by a gilt ring of undulating "C" scrolls on a pierced dial face mount of a lion's mask above curling falcon heads and berried laurel branches, surrounding blued steel halberd and spike hands above twin key escapements, verso a reticulated circular door opening to brass clockworks stamped "24000 / COMPTOIR GENERAL / H. RIONDET / 9 BD POISSONNIERRE PARIS / 4 8," over a conforming base and raised on leafy paw cast feet, includes a pendulum and winding key, height: 20 1/2", width: 12 1/2", depth: 6 3/8"; together with a pair of later "After the Antique" brass four light oil lamps with chains suspending lamp utensils, mounted with adjusting height key on a tall steel rod surmounted by a shaped demi-loop handle and raised on a baluster form base on a stylized star form cast plinth, height: 21 3/4" diameter: 5 3/4". Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition:
The clock is in good condition but lacks glass bezel dial cover, some normal gilding wear, oxidized spots, tiny edge nicks and surface buildup throughout. The brass oil lamps are in good shape with some expected tiny dings and tarnished areas. Simpson Galleries does not guarantee any timepiece or clock mechanism. American Rosewood and Faux-Rosewood Grand Piano, late 19th century, by an unknown manufacturer, having eighty-eight keys (the first key is inscribed "James 1896" and "A. Gressett Music House, Meridian, Miss. 11819") and beautifully carved shell-and-scroll legs, in playing condition, l. 7' 10", w. 5' 1", accompanied by a conforming steel moving platform. Provenance: Private New Orleans collection; ex-collection: St. George Episcopal Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. This piano was appraised by David Doremus, RPT, Algiers Piano Works, Ltd., on February 28, 2008; a copy of his report is available on request.
