Rowing and motor skiff wood boat, late 19th c., built in the Finger Lakes Region of NY and brought to the Delaware River in the 1880s, a gas cylinder engine was installed in the early 1900's, boat named OLGA. 17'3" x 3'5". Provenance: Approved for deaccession from the Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, PA with proceeds to benefit the Acquisition Fund.
Condition: Newer oak seating, engine of a later date, wear consistent with age. NOTE: All boats must be picked on or before January 2, 2023. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please make arrangements prior to bidding. Made with parts from the ship including solid brass fittings pipes steel and other white metal bits and wood. Wood varnished and smoke stack and life preservers decorated with enamel. Smoke stack fitted as ashtray with white metal drawer for emptying. Lower area fitted for small lamp. Condition: Good. Some alligatoring some losses to enamel. Measures 16'' long by 11'' by 14'' tall. Weight 22.7 lbs.

Unique Steam-Powered ''African Queen'' Boat Modeldesigned and custom built before 1981 by Joe B. Browder of Atlanta Georgia consisting of a painted wooden hull with interior planking on the sides and faux planking on the bow the craft is equipped with a radio controlled steam engine that powers the throttle while operating the rudder and whistle. 54.5 in. bow to stern; 18 in. at the beam.Mr. Browder retired in 1976 from a career with Georgia Power & Light. As a precocious sixteen year-old engineer in 1928 he met his hero Thomas Edison.All elements appear to be intact though the boat is not guaranteed to operate. Some light surface grime from lengthy storage. Overall very good condition.
