WILLIAM SELWOOD (ENGLISH, 1607-1653) LANTERN CLOCKA first period English brass lantern clock of theCharles I period to early Commonwealth period,by noted clockmaker William Selwood (British, 1607-1653). Inscribed across the front fret: "William Selwood at ye Maremaid in Louthbury." Roman numerals, floral engraved face. Offered with brass weight, cotton cord, and a later wooden wall bracket.
The clock measures 16" x 7 1/2" x 7"not including bracket or weight.
Alternate spelling : William Sellwood
Condition
The clock is untested. Tarnish and patination consistent with age. There is an old repaired crack on the backside of the bell. The cotton cord is worn and should be replaced.

ART NOUVEAU ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1910 carved oak, with velvet upholstered seat and arm rest64cm wide, 121cm high, 49cm deepNote: This celebrated chair shows distinct characteristics of the designs of the Century Guild with its linear Art Nouveau lines and swollen square section uprights.J.S. Henry was a wholesale manufacturer of Art Furniture based in Old Street, London and was established circa 1880. Most of their furniture output was Art Nouveau in mahogany and satinwood with decorative inlay. At the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society in 1903 the company showed designs by George Walton and W.A.S. Benson. G.M. Ellwood was their most prolific designer, and although they used designs by C.F.A. Voysey, E.G. Punnett and W.J. Neatby, few designers were named. Examples of this chair are held at the Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow and MAK Applied Arts Museum in Vienna.
