Two Original Signed Napoleonic
Two Original Signed Napoleonic Documents.Letters from Napoleon and Josephine framed with steel engravings. Both documents have been very loosely interpreted here. Letter from Napoleon Bonaparte to his stepson Eugene (from Josephine's 1st marriage) presumably a high ranking military officer in which Napolean is chastising Eugene for being too lenient in having sent Napolitan officers to Dalmatia (modern day Serbia/Croatia) rather then having them arrested for their suspicious and dissident behavior. Napoleon suggests that the last thing he needs in his army are dissident officers. The letter concludes ''Your affectionate father Napoleon'' and is dated 1807. Overall dimensions: 15.8'' high x 20'' wide. Letter from Josephine Bonaparte ''in the 8th year'' of the new calendar after the revolution likely before she is crowned empress. Josephine is asking a magistrate/judge to ensure the interests of an orphan child are looked after stressing that ''she knew the mother very well.'' The letter is signed Josephine Bonaparte Paris. Overall dimensions: 13.5'' high x 18.5'' wide. Condition: foxing to engraving letter has horizontal 2 inch smudge. From a Stamford CT location.
