  CHARLES DICKENS SIGNED LETTER TO A FRIEND, 1857 This ALS 4 page boldly written and signed, only on one page, in blue ink. The letter is dated Nov 30th,1857 from Tavistock House. Charles Dickens leased Tavistock House in Bloomsbury for the period 1851-1860. This letter was penned to Mrs. Douglas William Jerrold, a close family friend. Douglas William Jerrold died at his own house, Kilburn Priory, in London on 8 June 1857 and was buried at West Norwood Cemetery, where Charles Dickens and William Makepeace Thackeray were pall-bearers. The contents reveals Dickens helping in assisting Mrs. Jerrold in obtaining an annuity and pledging to pay by defraying out of a fund. Fine example of Dickens strong friendship.

  QUILLED FILIGREE ST. PETER RELIQUARY, 18TH C.An exceptional free-form rolled paper filigree frame around micro-painted, paper cut depiction of St. Peter ("St. Petrus") holding the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Amid the filigree are four vials containing natural materials, one of which is labeled indistinctly in Latin above on a strip of parchment. The frame is extensively detailed in gold and silver covered "Paperrolle" decorated filigree surround. Filigree is connected to fabric backing. An excellent example, likely French in origin, circa 18th century. Image measures 7.5 by 9.5 inches. Condition There is no visible loss or damage to the frame or image, with the very minor exception of minute losses to the paper foliage surrounding St. Peter. This item was most likely behind glass as a part of a reliquary within a frame or shadowbox. Original frame is no longer with the piece.
