FOUR NYMPHENBURG PORCELAIN 'BAYERISCHE TRACHTEN' FIGURESFOUR NYMPHENBURG PORCELAIN 'BAYERISCHE TRACHTEN' FIGURES, 20th Century, green printed and impressed Bavarian shield marks to bases and undersides, impressed model nos. 845, 844, 830 and 831, Pressnummer 0 to all, each model by Resl Schroder-Lechner, including: a 'Dachauerin' maiden, depicted demurely looking down, her left hand holding the edge of her apron, wearing a ribbon-tied frill cap, laced bodice and short green cropped jacket, her spreading striated skirt tied with a large sash, the flat circular base edged with a green line; a 'Dachauer' man, depicted standing tentatively, holding a flower in his left hand behind his back, wearing a black brimmed hat, his blue jacket slightly open revealing a chain and a buttoned vest, above brown breeches and high black leather boots, on a flat oval base edged with a brown line; a 'Jachenauer' man, depicted standing and holding a walking stick, wearing a broad hat, green frogged jacket and red shirt, his grey breeches held with a broad central belt, the flat oval base with a green line; a 'Miesbacherin' woman, depicted striding and attentive, her right hand holding her blue skirt and floral apron, wearing a gold tasseled black hat and fringed shawl, a bouquet of roses tucked in her laced and pendant silvered coin bodice, the flat oval base edged with a blue-line - h: 8 ¾ in., approx. (4) Provenance: Estate of Ronald Sperling Literature: These four models belong to a group of figures named the 'Bayerische Trachtenfiguren'. Celebrating regional traditional costumes, the series was started 1937 by the Bavarian artist, Resl Schroder-Lechner (1910-2000), who was a student of the Academy of Vienna. Until her death in 2000, Schroder-Lechner designed her smartly attired traditional dress figures in pairs. The presentation was often preceded by months of in-depth historical research.

Pair of Scheibe-Alsbach Two-Handled, Covered, Reticulated Porcelain Potpourri Vases, fourth quarter 19th/first quarter 20th century, the bodies elaborately embellished with full -relief polychromed porcelain flowerheads, the obverses with neoclassical figural vignettes in the manner of Angelica Kauffmann (German, 1740-1807), the reverses with polychromed floral sprays, at each side of the upper base a seated gesticulating putto, the reticulated covers each surmounted with a similar seated putto, signed on the base with the underglaze blue Scheibe-Alsbach "S-and-bars" and "Germany" in circular gilt stencil, h. 16-1/2", w. 9".
