PINE WALL BOX, PERTH COUNTY, CA. 1850A blue-painted pine wall box with drawer from North Easthope Township in Perth County. The face of the box and drawer are decorated with hand painted coral and white flowers with green stems inside a fine white pinstripe rectangle, while the box is constructed with large dovetails and the lid is affixed with original brass hinges. Top edge of drawer front restored. Illustrated in "A Splendid Harvest" by Michael Bird, plate 195 and in "Folk Treasures of Historic Ontario", plate 190. Ex Gerald Fagan collection. Ontario, circa 1850. H: 8.5"; W/L: 12"; D/P: 6.5". FRANCAIS: Boitier mural en pin peint en bleu avec tiroir, canton de North Easthope dans le comté de Perth. La façade et le tiroir sont décorés de fleurs corail et blanches peintes à la main avec des tiges vertes à l'intérieur d'un rectangle à fines rayures blanches, construction à larges queues d'arondes, couvercle fixé à charnières en laiton d'origine. Bord supérieur de la façade du tiroir restauré. Illustré dans "A Splendid Harvest" de Michael Bird, planche 195 et dans "Folk Treasures of Historic Ontario", planche 190. Ex-collection Gerald Fagan. OVOID REDWARE JUG, ATWOOD, ONT., CA. 1870An Ontario bulbous ovoid redware jug with a heavy double grooved handle and double incised line at the shoulder purchased at a country auction in Atwood near Listowell / Elmira. Olive green slip with profuse iron oxide spotting. Ex Gerald Fagan collection; described by Fagan as "museum quality, early example of bulbous form". Minor chips on base, circa 1870. H: 12"; D/P: 10". FRANCAIS: Cruche ovoïde bulbeuse en terre cuite de l'Ontario, grosse poignée à double rainure, double ligne incisée à l'épaule, achetée lors d'un encan de ferme à Atwood près de Listowell / Elmira. Glaçure verte olive, taches abondantes d'oxyde de fer. Ex-collection Gerald Fagan; décrit par Fagan comme "qualité musée, exemplaire ancien de forme bulbeuse". Petits éclats à la base. Circa 1870.
