  A GROUP OF FOUR FAMILLE-ROSE VESSELS 19TH CENTURY - REPUBLIC PERIOD (4) 19th century - Republic period Comprising a rectangular jardinière with canted corners supported on shaped feet, the principal sides with floral scroll and cartouches against a lavender ground, the corners with floral vines suspending chimes against a yellow ground, all between keyfret and diaper patterns at the rims and feet, Republic period; a large and a small butterfly-form bowl, each enameled in polychrome on the exterior and turquoise on the interior and base, the base centered by a reserved six-character Tongzhi seal mark in iron red, 19th century; and a floriform bowl molded and enameled as purple petals on the exterior supported on a foot in the form of a coiled stem, the interior enameled turquoise, Republic period. 9 1/2in (24.1cm); 7 1/4in (18.4cm); 5 3/4in (14.6cm); 4 7/8in (12.4cm) wide (4).

  LARGE FAMILLE ROSE MILLEFLEUR POT W/ STAND, REPUBLICAN ...One famille rose mile fleurs jar, of compressed globular body, the exterior enameled with a profusion of mixed flowers including peony, chrysanthemum, hibiscus and morning glory, the recessed base inscribed with a four-character Qianlong mark, D 24 cm Chinese Art from an Important Toronto Estate. The owner of this collection was a former minister with the Canadian government stationed in Ottawa during the 1980's. From a young age, he had a passion for Chinese and Japanese ceramics, inspired by fond visits to the Royal Ontario Museum during the 1950's.His Asian Art collection contains over 150 objects collected from the 1960's to the 2000's, with many objects acquired locally in Toronto from dealers such as Weisbrod and Dy, the Hundred Antiques, Pao and Moltke, and C. C. Lai Antiques. His favourite pieces were always his Chinese ceramics, which include Song ceramics, Ming and Qing porcelain, and blue and white export wares.
