Foulk for the aid provided by the troops under their command regarding the Dominican Civil War, hap pening concurrent with the Vietnam war. President Lyndon Johnson felt the United States should intervene in the Dominican Republic out of concern sparked by the fear that there could be a Communist takeover similar to Cuba. Other Notes: Infamous American murderer convicted of the assassination of American civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on March 10 1969. Ray was sentenced to ninety-nine years in prison after entering a guilty plea which he later unsuccessfully tried to recant. James Earl Ray died in prison on April 23 1998.
