MASSIVE PRE 1850 FIGURAL MANTLE CLOCK 7 ½" thick x 14 ½" wide x 25" tall;l A 4 ¼" white enamel dial with Roman Numerals for all chapters, with all minute hash marks on a continuous circle at the dials edge. Blued steel Renaissance style minute/hour hands. Beveled glass crystal on front and domed glass on the back cover. An 80 mm japy style half and hour strike type, silk suspension movement is utilized. A bronze gilt philosopher with a tome in contemplation rests on top of a black slate base, decorated with a gilt border and heavy scroll feet. Weighs 45 lbs. Movement stamped Raingo-Freres.
