RARE "VOLUNTEER FIREMEN AND FIRE PUMPER" DESIGN WAca. 1830; inspired by the invention of the steam powered fire pumper that was invented in 1829; the high hat box in cardstock and stitch construction with matched lid, simple brown tone rose design wallpaper, illustrating a repeated scene of six firemen drawing by hand a steam pumper fire wagon and one fireman at the rear of the wagon on his call horn, a large two story home and summer kitchen addition with fire coming out of room line of kitchen, the wallpaper a two-color roll print in brown tones, 11"x 11"x 12"; Condition: note brown tape interior repairs to stitchwork, lid band is stabilized by tape on interior of rim, some warping to lid, some separation along base, rare form wallpaper scene
