Italian, early 20th century, white marble. A cheerful infant, outfitted in bonnet and dress, crawls across a realistically floral sculpted pillow, the lower edge of the pillow etched "Heureuse plus qu un Roi" with no signature apparent.
13 x 15 x 10 in. (33.02 x 38.10 x 25.40 cm.)
Condition:
Slight chip loses to the smallest three toes on the down-side of the lower foot of the child, and some minor edge chipping to the bonnet and lace trim on the child's sleeve hardly worth mentioning but there. No repairs evident.

Richard MacDonald, based in California, is known for his figurative bronze sculptures and his association with Cirque Du Soleil. His work has been acquired for the permanent collections of companies such as AT&T, IBM and Anheuser-Busch, as well as notable private collections. He has also been commissioned to do several monumental sculptures including one for the 1996 Olympic Games.
