TWO WELLER ART POTTERY 'FLORETTA' VASES, A WELLER 'FLORETTA' JUG AND AN AMERICAN ART POTTERY TALL CARAFETWO WELLER ART POTTERY 'FLORETTA' VASES, A WELLER 'FLORETTA' JUG AND AN AMERICAN ART POTTERY TALL CARAFE, Zanesville, OH, circa 1904-1915, impressed FLORETTA medallion marks to the first three enclosing model nos. 2, 9 and 27 respectively, including an ovoid sack vase molded with a gather of strawberries, h: 11.75 in.; an oviform sack vase molded with three pendant pears; and an oviform jug molded with pendant grapes; the fourth an unmarked knopped tapering cylindrical carafe with bracket handle, attributed to Peters and Reed, circa 1900, molded with a fruiting cherry branch, splashed in ochre and green, on a russet-brown glazed ground (4) Provenance: Estate of Ronald Sperling Literature: See the Richard and Rita Chouinard Collection, Heritage Auctions, Dallas, Texas, lot 28164 for a vase molded with an identical cherry branch and attributed to Peters and Reed, a forerunner of Weller Pottery.

FULL LENGHT TERRACOTTA GODDESS SCULPTURE, CA. 1890'Flora', the Roman Goddess of Spring, after a work by René Frémin (1672-1744). A remarkable 19th century full length classical figure of timeless beauty, sensitively rendered in terracotta with fine proportions, posed in a graceful stance atop a naturalistic modelled ground, areas of minor conservation, losses and surface abrasions noted. Height of figure, 60" (5 feet tall), mounted atop an associated plinth base measuring 18.25". Continental, circa 1890. During the reign of Louis XIV or the Great Sun King (1643 to 1715), René Frémin was awarded the title of Sculptor to the King, and in 1709 was commissioned to create the original of this work as well as other allegorical figures to be installed at the Parc De Marly at Château de Malmaison. Purchased from Fifty One Antiques Ltd (Member of CADA), Toronto, Canada.
