HENRY DEARBORN FRAMED SILHOUETTE Rare Verre Eglomise Bust Portrait of the American Revolutionary War Hero, found in Maine, in the original lemon gold frame and backing, with an early 19th c. handwritten label verso reading: "Gen. Henry Dearborn, born in Hampshire, N.H., March 1, 1751. Distinguished in the war of the Revolution. Was in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Was a Captain under Arnold on the March to Quebec, and after-wards paroled. Well known at the Kennebec". 7 3/8" x 5". Some losses, head intact.
General Henry Dearborn (1751-1829), besides his service in the Revolutionary War, was a US Representative from Massachusetts 1793-1797; 5th United States Secretary of War under President Thomas Jefferson 1801-1809; 10th Senior Officer of the United States Army 1812-1815 (War of 1812); United States Minister to Portugal under President James Monroe 1822-1824.
