A bold photograph by William "Bill" Webb, capturing Emil White gripping the thighs and presenting the buttocks of a "friend". Emil White was an artist, writer, and publisher best known for his paintings of Big Sur, California who was introduced to the beauty of California's Central Coast by his idol and friend Henry Miller. According to White's longtime friend Ephraim Doner, "While Miller, some of whose novels were once banned in the United States, was considered the grandfather of the sexual revolution, White was its most avid practitioner". Doner also claimed that White "thought of himself as one of the great lovers of women". Condition:
Photograph is mounted behind glass in a custom frame. Photo has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in excellent condition overall. Title, edition number, and William Webb's intitials are handwritten in pencil below the image. William Webb's stamp with title, negative number, date (Aug. 23, 1963) and title with location (Emil White and Friend - Big Sur) on verso. Envelope taped to verso inscribed "Emil & Friend - Esabu, 1963" a gift of Wm. Webb, Photographer, 10/5/91." Frame is very nice and fit with suspension wire.
