Chippewa Snake Skin Banner thread-sewn with skin backed to red wool; beige cotton with red dots edges wool; remnants of hide tassels at ends length 55 in. framed 61 x 9.5 in.This banner may be associated with that of the Mide Society. ?Similar items noted as bags are featured in the Illinois State Archeological Society's bulletin (1950: Vol. 1 No. 2 45-48). ?These bags range in size from 4.5 feet to over 6 feet in length. ?An example can also be found in the collections collections of the American Museum of Natural History (50.1/6865 A-D).

PLAINS INDIAN BEADED SHEATH, SKINNING KNIFEAntique Plains Indians beaded leather knife sheath decorated in beadwork of blue, white and red. Included is an antique skinning knife stamped with "I. Wilson," for British knife maker John Wilson, circa 19th century. Provenance: Consignor obtained the piece from a sale of the personal artifacts collection of Jerome Peltier, a founder of the Museum of Native American Cultures and author of more than a dozen books on Western history. Knife measures 8 7/8" long from handle to tip. Sheath measures 7" long.
