Currier and Ives was founded by Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813-1888) in 1835 as "the Grand Central Depot for Cheap and Popular Prints," but changed its name with the addition of James Merritt Ives (American, 1824-1895) in 1857. The company created over 7000 popular lithographs depicting American life until 1907.

Robert Rogers Colonial Frontiersman ANS 1778 Robert Rogers (1731-1795). Colonial frontiersman and soldier who fought for the British in the French & Indian Wars and the American Revolution; founder and commander of Rogers' Rangers a highly effective militia in the French & Indian Wars which produced several important leaders in the Continental Army who fought against their former commander. ANS 1p on laid paper 8.25 x 6.5 in. August 20 1778 at Middleton addressed to William Arnold Inn Holder of Greenwich (RI) asking him to retrieve clothing and wafers from a box stored in the inn's cave and to forward the items to Mr. Gideon Mumford who will deliver them. Condition: Scattered stains and soiling with minor holes along the folds.

REMINGTON'S FRONTIER SKETCHES, FREDERIC REMINGTONThis is a RARE First Edition of "Remington's Frontier Sketches" by Frederic Remington and published in 1898 by the Werner Company. Remington is arguably one of the most influential Western artists who ever lived. This book was published at about the pinnacle of his career and highlights some of his best works thus far. Frederic Sackrider Remington was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in the genre of Western American Art. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, Native American Indians, and the US Cavalry. Unpaginated and illustrated with title page vignette, 15 monochrome full page plates with captioned tissue guards printed in red. The noted collection of Remington's distinctive drawing of the American West depicting battle scenes between the U.S. Calvary and Plains Indians. White cloth bound hardcover illustrated book with some scuffing, soiling noted on the cover, splits along spine edge gold gilt intact page top, bottom and fore edges. Age tanning and foxing exhibited on tissue guards. A collectable copy of an uncommon work. The book measures 9.5"W x 12"L.

FRONTIERSMAN JOHN DURFEY CABINET CARDJohn Durfey appears in this full length portrait CDV with a leather fringed jacket and leggings, holding a rifle in one hand. Durfey is reputed to have arrived in the United States c.1840 and later enlisted in the Union Army. He was captured at Gettysburg and may have been held at Andersonville Prison. He comes to us as a Cowboy Indian fighter and frontiersman, a famed Wild West American figure. Verso inscribed "Grandpa Durfey." Photograph taken by George R. Elliott, who's studio is documented tin the 1871-1872 Columbus, Ohio directory. Approx. 4-1/4" L x 6-1/2" H.
