A Fine American Sterling Silver Centerbowl and Plateau Galt & Brother Washington D.C. c. 1890 urn-form with everted rim scroll chasing and reticulated borders throughout overall height 9 3/4 in. diameter 13 3/4 in. combined weight 97.35 troy ozs. Note: The Galt firm dates back to Alexandria VA silversmith James Galt who was active 1802-1847 and was succeeded by his sons. When the successor entity Galt & Bro. Jewelers closed its doors in 2001 it was the oldest business in Washington DC.
