Two Gardiner family theorems: one a landscape with castle and figures near a bridge and one a still life with fruit and Chinese export bowl on ledge, signed lower right on cards with cut foil "PxCxG", watercolor and ink on velvet, American School, 19th century, 22 x 25-1/2 in.; matching 20th century wood frames, attributed to Phebe C. Gardiner of Gardiner's Island, New York. Both with toning and staining, mounted to wood panels, fading of blue in sky, retains strong coloring; frames with abrasions. By tradition, purchased directly from a Gardiner family member by Valdeman Jacobson, 1978; Private Collection, Tennessee.
