AIZELIN," interior mounted with an octagonal metal plaque stamped "DES FOSSIS DU TEMPLE / MUDESSE, / MARBRIER / BREVETE / PARIS," over a base of continuous paired "C" details modeled in relief and trimmed in beading, raised on a conforming plinth with reticulated blossoming scrolls cast feet. the pair of candlestick garnitures of white marble. each on an octagonal base. the candlesticks are in gold with two holders linked by a chain with an acanthus leaf scroll. divided by a pole with a pine cone finial with four acanthus leaves. the ormolu-mounted marble clock of a young woman sitting in thought. dressed in a toga she rests with her head down and arms crossed on her lap. her hair is wrapped with a gold netting and laurel leaves. the sculpture is atop a rounded mount with a clock with a gold boarder. the clock face has gold roman numerals. marked with clock maker f. 10 Gautier Rue des Fes Montmarte 3; on verso the clock is stamped and numbered 4 8 300 and inscribed 505g; on panel of pedestal marked with maker’s mark devaulx. height of candlesticks: 39 cm (15 1/2 in.); mantle clock dimensions: 44.5 x 27 cm (17 1/2 x 10 1/2 in.)
CONDITION

Provenance: Notes:"Blueback" was laid down by Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation of Pascagoula, Mississippi on April 15, 1957. She was launched May 16, 1959, sponsored by Virginia McManes, wife of Rear Admiral Kenmore McManes, and commissioned October 15, 1959, Lieutenant Commander Robert H. Gautier in command. FRENCH EMPIRE GILT BRONZE & MARBLE GARNITURE SETPair of French Empire ornate gilt bronze and marble candelabras and a Lyre style mantel clock. Candelabras have ornate floral swags and 5 lights each, supported by green carved marble center on 4 legs with hooved feet, mounted on square gilt and marble base, resting on toupee formed gilt feet. Measures 21.25"H x 9"W; base 5.75"W x 5.75"L. Accompanied by lyre style mantel clock accented with laurel leaf swags on each side. The top is accented with double eagle heads with a face/mask in the center wearing a crown. Clock has porcelain face by 'Ch. Gautier, Ft de Bronzes, Paris Bordeaux'. Rectangular marble and gilt base has gilt medallions and frieze trim, raised on circular feet. Measures 22"H x 10.5"W; base 10"L x 8"W.
