Note: Starting at the age of six, Ceylon artist Senaka Senanayake was considered a prodigy. He was so impressed that he immediately persuaded the Ceylon Society of Arts, the oldest art institution in Sri Lanka to organize a solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery. In March of 1959, the 8-year old painter had his first solo exhibition. The artist was twelve when he painted The Gleaners.
