GILT METAL MANTEL CLOCK CELEBRATING THE GRAPE HARVEST Mid-19th century, a young farmworker having just cut a bunch of grapes sits upon a barrel, the lid of which is the face of a time and strike clock with Roman numerals; the central sculpture surmounts a pierced foliate base with additional items associated with the grape harvest such a a tambourine, two horns and crossed thyrsi of Dionysius.

Comes with key and pendulum. Time and strike.Elias Ingraham (1805-1885) worked as a designer and cabinet maker for George Mitchell in 1828. He designed made and sold the first sharp gothic better known as the steeple clock. During WWII and the Korean War the company made anti-aircraft fuses.

VINE INLAY TALL CASE WALNUT CLOCK, KENTUCKY HISTORYElaborate vine-inlaid walnut tall case clock, Maysville, Kentucky history; vine and leaf inlay pattern similar to the Shinnston, West Virginia cabinetmaking group. Bonnet with vine inlaid broken arch pediment molding, terminating in rosettes with four inlaid petals, hood columns with line inlay, upper waist ogee molding over a figured walnut panel with vine inlay terminating in a tri-leaf design on stiles, waist door stiles with chamfered corners having vine and leaf inlay. Waist door with figured walnut and cut corner line inlay and kite inlaid escutcheon, scratch beaded edge. Lower ogee molding transitions to base section having a figured walnut panel with cut corner line inlay, inlaid stiles beginning with a tri-leaf flower and undulating vine, all enclosed by an oval line inlay, case supported by ring turned feet. Painted wooden masonic dial with works. 94"H x 17 1/2"W x 12 3/4"D. Second quarter of the 19th century, Kentucky or West Virginia. Provenance - Lexington, Kentucky area collection. A SÈVRES STYLE PUTTI AND GRAPE CLUSTERS PORCELAIN MANTL...A SÈVRES STYLE PUTTI AND GRAPE CLUSTERS PORCELAIN MANTLE CLOCK, POSSIBLY DRESDEN, GERMAN WORKS BY KIENZLE, 20TH CENTURY, painted in cobalt blue ground and polychrome colors with a tambourine suspending reed pipe modeled finial suspending grape leaf and clusters ending in blossoming stems, draped over the barrel form case with a gilt metal and glass hinged bezel, opening to a porcelain dial enclosing black rectangular panels with white Roman hour chapters and reticulated black steel hands-on painted floral sprays above twin key escapements, verso glazed white porcelain frolicking putti in relief mounted door opening to brass clockworks stamped "77 / KIENZLE / 533/14," over a square form "KIENZLE / GERMANY / TWO (2) JEWELS," underside marked underglaze dark blue intertwined L's and overglaze red inscribed "Modèle et decoration eseclusive à la main." Height: 15 3/4" Width: 12" Depth: 7" Note: Kienzle Uhren GmbH, founded in Villingen-Schwenningen Germany in 1822 is one of Germany's oldest watch and alarm clockmakers. Production included the first commercial time stamp clock followed over the years by wrist watches, pocket watches, and travel clocks that were reasonably priced. During WWII they produced instruments and watches for the German military and cockpit clocks for the Wehrmacht using Polish slave labor. Post-war Kienzle continued production but expanded utilizing new innovations leading to new products. Today the headquarters can be found in Hamburg after having moved in 2002 from the original in Schwenningen.

An Unusual Automaton Novelty
An Unusual Automaton Novelty Clock The small metal birdcage is in an oxidized finish. It contains a feathered bird and a pillar at the center with a ball at the top and an ivory color band around the middle with numerals and marks. A red pointer circles around to indicate the time. The cage is suspended from a hoop stand with a tiny angel at the top holding the ring inset in a cast glass base with a slightly pink tint. Overall it measures apprx. 8-1/2"H. So far the bird does not chirp.
