[Flags and Patriotic Textiles] 38-Star American Parade Flags Lot of 7 glazed cotton printed parade flags each with 38 stars configured in 7/6/6/6/6/7 horizontal rows six flags measuring 6.75'' x 9.75'' affixed to 18'' dowels one measuring 17.5'' x 12'' affixed to a 23.5'' dowel. Colorado was admitted as the 38th state in 1876 and no other states were admitted until the Dakotas in 1889. These flags were found inside the walls of a building in Iowa which was built in 1884 during demolition for remodeling. Condition: Scattered stains and color loss. Each with a horizontal ''crease'' or ''pinch'' under the topmost stripe.

Patriotic state flower needlework, eight-line verse from "The Flag of Our Union" (George Phillips Morris (1802-1864) against a partial rendering of the American flag surrounded by 48 flowers with names of flowers and states, cotton on linen, American, early 20th century, 19-1/2 x 15 in.; wood frame. Overall good condition, slight fading.

38-Star American Parade Flags Lot of 4 glazed cotton printed parade flags each with 38 stars configured in 7/6/6/6/6/7 horizontal rows with three measuring 6.75 x 9.75 in. the fourth measuring 11.75 x 17.25 in. each mounted on wooden dowel. Colorado was admitted as the 38th state in 1876. Condition: Previous owner's inked notes on dowels; few light ?scattered stains on flags.?

Published May 12 1794 by Laurie & Whittier London successors to Robert Sayer. Hand-colored. 22'' x 29'' framed to 27'' x 34''. Plate impression measures 18'' x 21.5''. A 3'' x 4'' printed paper label is affixed to the upper margin from the Dublin nautical goods supplier McAuley & Hughes. Condition: Scattered minor stains. One 2.5'' vertical tear at upper center.

Largest H: 17 in. W: 21 1/4 in. PROVENANCE: From the Stanley and Rose Rich Collection, Fairfield, CT. ,200 Ten with some staining, five of which the staining is moderate to severe. Wear to frames, one with broken corner.

All are printed or stenciled on glazed cotton with the stars configured in horizontal rows of 7/6/6/6/6/7.? Colorado was admitted as the 38th state in 1876 and no other states were admitted until the Dakotas in 1889.?
