EAST TN GRINDSTAFF POTTERY, INCL. MINIATURE1st item: East Tennessee miniature stoneware jug, Grindstaff pottery. Inscription on side reads "LARSES, grinstall or grinstaff". William Grinstaff had a son, Lazarus, who was born in the 1880/1881 time period. Whether this jug is referencing a nickname for Lazarus is unknown at this time. 3 1/4" H. Late 19th century. 2nd item: East Tennessee stoneware crock, Grindstaff pottery. Incised band spacing below rim, tapered base edge, and applied lug handles typical for Grindstaff's work. Glaze with a heavy salt application, resembling a green hue. 6" H x 7" dia. Late 19th century. Provenance: Descendant of Grinstaff on maternal side of family, Blount Co., TN.
