1908 EDDIE GRANT BASEBALL HOF PLAYER POSTCARD1908 Rose Company postcard with a Horner portrait of Eddie Grant within an embossed and gilt frame with bats in a green field with a baseball diamond. Edward Leslie Grant attended Cambridge and Harvard Law School before making his way to the National League to play with the Philadelphia Phillies as 3rd baseman from 1905-1915, part of the Deadball Era. "Harvard Eddie" retired to practice law but soon enlisted, becoming the first MLB player to become a WW1 soldier. As part of Company H 307th Infantry Regiment he was killed during the Battle of the Argonne in France, becoming the first Major League Baseball player to die in the first World War. In a Union case with a shield eagle flags and bust of George Washington. Harriet Dada (Harriet Dada Emens) enlisted as an army nurse in Alexandria Virginia on July 23 1861 and served a total of four years two months in military hospitals throughout the War.
