Thomas Gentle Huckle (British d.
Thomas Gentle Huckle (British d. 1889) PAIR OF WORKS: HADDON HALL watercolor framed unsigned and inscribed on verso sight size: H8 1/2'' W12 1/4'' (2pcs) Provenance: Estate of Elizabeth H. Rader Rock Hill South Carolina. Other Notes: Haddon Hall is probably the finest example of a fortified Medieval manor house in existence. Present-day Haddon Hall was inhabited from the 12th century to the early 17th century; it lay dormant until the 1920s when the 9th Duke and Duchess of Rutland restored the house and gardens making it liveable once again. Withstanding fire warfare family misfortune and changing fashions Haddon Hall has changed little over the recent centuries and it provides a unique view of early English life and history. HARD STONE DRESS CANE-Ca. 1920
HARD STONE DRESS CANE-Ca. 1920 -Large ruby matrix ball knob of striking motley colors and structure, plain silver collar with Birmingham hallmarks, rosewood shaft and a horn ferrule. Many different minerals are mixed in this natural rock with beautiful red and translucent rubies enclosed in an opaque, greenish Granulite stone. The structure shows well on the polished surface to create a striking effect and lends this cane an addicting feel, often believed to give protection of negative entities or stress healing properties. Canes with hard stone knobs became very popular in the late Victorian era and their varieties make them great and decorative collectables. -H. 2” Diameter, O.L. 39” -$200-$300
