1860 LINCOLN-HAMLIN FERROTYPE CAMPAIGN BUTTON WITH TINTYPE IMAGE OF CANDIDATES ON FRONT AND BACK1860 LINCOLN-HAMLIN FERROTYPE CAMPAIGN BUTTON WITH TINTYPE IMAGE OF CANDIDATES ON FRONT AND BACK, each tintype enclosed within brass circle with 'ABRAHAM LINCOLN 1860' front and 'HANNIBAL HAMLIN 1860' on reverse, with floral and leaf pattern, tied with ribbon to small metal memento, mounted in glass display case with note which reads: This medal for Lincoln and Hamlin campaign, 1860, was owned by a soldier of Civil War who served four years; was in 16 major battles, Bull Run, Antietam, etc.; taken prisoner at Gettysburg; was in Belle Isle and Libby Prison six weeks when exchanged. He saw Mr. Lincoln review his troops, and adored him. This young man was characterized in history of his Regiment as one who never used the innocuous "cuss" word of the soldier; was very brave and valient. This medal has been very carefully kept with many of his Civil War mementoes and has on it the original blue ribbon. Provenance: By descent to the present owner
