  MODEL 1850 STAFF AND FIELD OFFICERS SWORD SCABBARD AND SASH: Ornate grip with engraved pommel US shield on cap and US in guard. Original shark / rayskin grip and wire. Import 32'' blade most likely German with nice clear engravings of US eagle military motifs and foliate scroll. Metal scabbard with extra fancy engraved mounts. Sword has original officers sash still wrapped around grip faded to a nice rose color. We have not removed the sash from the grip. 38 3/4'' long overall.CONDITION: Minor areas of isolated peppering on blade sash has tears and rips but complete and intact.

  A Continental infantryman's hanger slightly curved broad blade brass guard leather covered grip (brass wire binding incomplete) in a leather scabbard early 19th century possibly French Estimate ?75-150 Blade length is 23.75ins. Blade tarnished throughout and does appear to also have been cleaned some knocks to the blade edges and to the tip brass guard heavily polished general scratches and knocks consistent with age wire binding to the grip is partly deficient and general wear and chips to leather on the underside scabbard worn with expected wear and dents to the metal mounts. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear imperfections or the effects of aging. One of the pearl side plates has a tiny crack that does not go through; the plate is still solid. Rare with pearl side plates.
