UNUSUAL HANSEL AND GRETEL
UNUSUAL HANSEL AND GRETEL TINPLATE CONTAINER c. 1920 probably German. Lithographed and embossed tinplate in the form of the Witch's candy house. Features ginger bread shingles at roof and front of second story many with faces. The shadow box facade fitted with a cut-out of the Witch dragging Hansel and Gretel toward a lithographed interior featuring a table set with tempting treats surrounded by an ominous cast including a crow snake and black cat. 10" h. 12 ?" w. 7 ?" d. Some minor scrapes and finish wear old solder repair under base. (Exc. Cond.)

Oversize book with tipped in illustrations with tissue guards. 275 numbered pages printed endpapers and old bookstore sticker from Bretano's of New York. Hardbound with marbled paper boards and cloth spine binding having embossed and gilt tile on spine. Deckled edges with gilt ruled top edge. Apprx 12-1/2"T x 10"W x 2"D.
