Letter is addressed to Mr. P. Vail, Chairman and reads "Dear Sir: In reply to your note of this date I have to say that I much distrust my judgment in the matter you suggest. There are others who would be willing to address your __ opinion ___ worth more than mine. I __ quite clear that if I were obligated to vote on the proposition if would be in favor of choosing the affirmation of the question stated. Yours truly, Grover Cleveland." 6-3/4" x 5-3/8". Light toning to paper, signature excellent. 2nd item: First Lady Frances F. Cleveland (1864-1947) autograph on card, 3-3/8" x 4-1/2". Light toning. 3rd item: William Howard Taft signed document appointing William A. Mosman as Hon. Vice Consul of Guatemala at Boston, Aug. 15, 1912. Sheet 18" x 21-3/8". Toning, some foxing/small stains and separation at center fold line. Fold across Taft's signature. 4th item: Envelope with Grace Coolidge signature across top right hand side (cancellation across signature), addressed to George G. Gebelein of Boston. Envelope 4" x 7-1/2". 5th item: Harry S. Truman signed commemorative card marking the president's 77th birthday May 8, 1961, and picturing the mural "Independence and the opening of the West" by Thomas Hart Benton. Card is inscribed and signed in pen: "Kindest regards to Abraham Ribicoff, 12/4/61 Harry S. Truman." Card 10-1/2" x 17". Light toning.

HARRY TRUMAN SCRAPBOOK, SIGNED
HARRY TRUMAN SCRAPBOOK, SIGNED TWICE BY THE PRESIDENTA scrapbook created by a neighbor and family friend of President Harry S. Truman, Mrs. Bryan Fred. The butcher paper scrapbook features newspaper and magazine clippings, assembling personal and professional moments of the President. Signed on a loose front page: "Best wishes Harry Truman," and in the middle pages is full-page signature by Truman: "Best wishes 11/2/46 Harry Truman." Though mostly featuring period clippings from his presidency, there are some clippings from newspapers announcing his death in 1972. Cord-bound with wooden board front/back cover and spine.
Also included is a curious little painting of Truman at his desk, executed on carved relief wood panel. The painting is signed by an unknown Turkish artist, Halit Nuri Kiliseri, with notes on the reverse translating to "Physical Education Region, Stadium".
Condition
The scrapbook was made with non-archival paper, so there is evidence of acidity throughout. Some loose pages inside the front and back covers, including the front page which bears one of the two signatures. Both signatures are crisply and clearly written.
The painting is in very good condition.
