GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE-MOUNTED VERDE ANTICO MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK CIRCA 1916 The 9 1/4 in. dial relief cast with fruit-filled urn bell-flower festoons and scrolls on mask head scroll supports resting on verde antico base with applied ribbon twist edge. Provenance: Property from the Collection of David Cohen New York City. Note: A similar mantel clock albeit with blackamoor supports by E.F. Caldwell sold at Sotheby's NY April 22 2010 for $20 000. This particular model is listed in the Caldwell Archives at The Cooper-Hewitt Museum archive #1234A-25957 1/2 made in 1916 for T.F. Ryan. He was the principal of Ryan Art Galleries Toronto which is now the Keg Museum. 10 1/2 x 15 1/8 x 4 1/4 in.

Edward F. Caldwell & Co. of New York City was one of the premier designers and manufacturers of electric light fixtures and decorative metalwork from the late 19th to the mid-20th centuries. Founded in 1895 by Edward F. Caldwell (1851–1914) and Victor F. von Lossberg (1853–1942), the firm left a legacy of custom designed and finely-made, metal gates, lanterns, chandeliers, ceiling and wall fixtures, floor and table lamps, and other decorative objects that can be found today in many metropolitan area churches, public buildings, offices, clubs, and residences including, the White House (1902 renovation), St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York, New York Public Library, and Rockefeller Center.
