A Nigerian Nok Terracotta Head c. 200 AD the realistically modeled oval head with raised eyebrows above pierced almond shaped eyes a full nose and a slightly opened mouth wearing a headdress with fine "basketweave" detailing height 7 1/2 in. accompanied by a Thermoluminescence report (TL 102703) from Alliance-Science-Art dated 1994 stating the age of the piece as well as X-rays of the head. Ejagham Peoples Headcrest, Nigeria, the ovoid, ochre-colored wood face with coffee bean eyes, arched eyebrows, black triangular ears and an open oval mouth exposing white teeth, with raised concentric circle scarification marks at the middle of the forehead and temples and seven tall black, conical projections each with incised spiral designs representing an elaborate hairdo, the neck attached to a domed, flared base with three rope attachments through holes in the base, h. 19-1/2", w. 6", d. 6". TWO MILLINER'S HEADS. Probably France 2nd half-19th century papier mache. Two heads with original gesso and paint. Blonde 15''h. and one with black hair 15''h. Imperfections. They both have some waterstains but I don't see any mold. The one with the black hair has an open split from the neck to the bottom. A small crack in her forehead. Both have wear/damage to the nose. The blonde one has a crack at the opening on the back.
