- TWO DR ALBERT ABRAMS REFLEXOPHONE QUACK
TWO DR ALBERT ABRAMS REFLEXOPHONE QUACK MEDICAL DEVICESDevices like these were used by Dr. Albert Abrams to provide patient diagnoses over the phone.Among many other fantastic therapies, Dr. Abrams claimed to create a form of treatment that could, with a sample of hair or blood, establish a diagnosis and then transmit healing vibrations back to the patient. Useless knob-covered devices such as this aided the doctor in his ruse.Dr. Albert Abrams has been dubbed the 'Dean of All Twentieth Century Charlatans.' He took quackery to a new level, exploiting the public's ignorance when it came to real technologies like electricity, along with phony ones he gave names like 'Oscillation' and 'Radionics.' Around 1916, he wrote a book about Physico-clinical Medicine (another fancy but concocted word): the Practical Application of the Electronic Theory in the Interpretation and Treatment of Disease.Measures 4 x 10.25 x 5.25 inches each.Good condition as shown and presumably as effective as the day they were made.

- Carved oak wall hanging depicting St
Carved oak wall hanging depicting St Mary Magdalene holding a chalice, Early Christian tradition holds that Jesus' follower Mary Magdalene collected Christ's blood in a sacred vessel after the Crucifixion.
Originally called the Marian Chalice, meaning the Chalice of Mary Magdalene, Mary's sacred vessel was believed to have been sealed up in Jesus’ empty tomb where it remained for almost four hundred years. After the Roman emperor Constantine the Great converted to Christianity in the early fourth century, his mother the Empress Helena ordered the excavation of the Holy Sepulchre, the purported site of Christ’s tomb in Jerusalem. During the excavation a cup was found which many believed to be the Marian Chalice. It was taken to Rome where it was believed to possess miraculous healing powers. The Marian Chalice, or Chalice of Magdalene, remained in Rome until the city was sacked by the barbarians in AD 410. Along with other treasures, it was taken from the city in an armed convoy of carts and brought to the safety of Britain, the last outpost of Roman civilization in Western Europe. What then happened to the sacred relic went unrecorded, but well into the Middle Ages the legend persisted that it was still hidden somewhere in the British Isles. some splits and minor losses, probably Continental, 18th c or earlier, 24" high
