- IMPORTANT 16TH C. HELMET, KING HENRY
IMPORTANT 16TH C. HELMET, KING HENRY VIIIA historically important close helmet, the one piece skull showing a low comb with roped detail, upper visor with eye-slot, plain lower visor and chin guard with roped detail, restoration to lower visor & comb. English, circa 1550. Measuring, 11" high. Provenance: Sotheby's Catalogue dated April 6th 1976, London, page 12, Lot #87 (photos of Sotheby's catalogue included), referencing this helmet as belonging to Sir William Goring, Knight of Burton Sussex, Master of the Horse to King Henry VIII, and Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to Edward VI, thence to the Family of Goring of Highden, Sussex and by family descent to the present owner. Note: There is definite evidence that he was killed in the helmet as it underwent hasty repairs so that it could be affixed to a wall behind his tomb. A sword cut does not line up with any corresponding cut in the crudely made bevor so the latter was fashioned after his death. The helmet has remained in the Goring family until it was decided to place it in the hands of Sotheby's auction firm who sold it in 1976 to the present owner.

ANNE BOLEYN HN3232 - ROYAL DOULTON FIGURINEThe Royal Doulton Anne Boleyn HN3232 Figure features Anne dressed in her royal red gown with white fur cuffs, meticulously detailed blue-gray petticoat, and forest green blouse sleeves extending out of the fur cuffs. The gown is carefully adorned with gold trim, and this same attention to detail is applied to the jewelry around her neck. She has a white headband with gold trim holding her hair back. She is holding a small puppy in her right arm, while a second dog stands on the edge of her gown. King Henry VIII ruled over England from April 21, 1509 January 28, 1547. During his reign he took on six wives, each of whom made a lasting mark on history as well. Royal Doulton's Six Wives of Henry VIII series brings them all together and into your home. The Tudors encompass one of the most exciting periods in English history. The Tudor dynasty (1485 1603) includes celebrated kings and queens like Henry VIII and his six famous wives.
