AFTER HENDRICK VAN DE SANDE BAKHUYZEN (GERMAN/AMERICAN, 1795 - 1860) 14" x 10 ?" plaque Antique De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles Delft blue and white porcelain plaque in wood frame, overall 16 ½" x 13 ½", depicting a figure and a herd of sheep along a country road with buildings in the background, signed in the lower right corner "mann v d Sande Bakhuyzen." Marked with blue sign of a jar, stylized initials JT and name of a city (Delft), along with blue artist monogram and date letters for 1910 on the back, and impressed letters "BWZJ" on the back.
Provenance: private collection, Pittsburgh, PA; gifted to current owner's mother in mid- 1970's from Elizabeth Braun Ernst (of Braun Industries 1890-1900's, Warwick Terrace Estate, Morewood Heights, Pittsburgh; contemporaries of Andrew Carnegie), from the collection of Arthur E. Braun, Pittsburgh banker and philanthropist.
