EXCEPTIONAL LINSEY-WOOLSEY BAR
EXCEPTIONAL LINSEY-WOOLSEY BAR QUILTA pioneer quilt made during the latter half of the 19th century. The bars were fitted and pieced together with homespun fabric and wools taken from the quilter's quilt stock of materials. Pieces of various sizes and colouring were fitted together to create these long uniform bars. Some of the fabric appear to be faded but in reality they were taken from the materials available to create the closest match of fabric to fit the particular bar needed in the overall pattern. Quilted in the semi-circular pattern. Hand-bound edging with black velvet period fabric original to the piece. Eastern Ontario, circa 1860. Measuring, 70” x 78”. The Carol Telfer Collection.
