1849 Georgia slave document, handwritten letter dated July 5, 1849, sent from H.B. Troutman (Hiram Baldwin Troutman, dates unknown) of Knoxville, Georgia, and addressed to the Hon. E.A. Nisbet (Eugenius Aristides Nisbit, Georgia Supreme Court Justice, 1845-1853) of Macon, Georgia, three pages discussing the purchase of "the negro man Dave(?)" and requesting a bill of sale, 9-5/8 x 15 in. Fading, toning, smudges, stains, creases, two losses where seal was affixed, later pencil inscriptions.
