CARVED IVORY LITURGICAL COMB, FRAMED Double-Sided, Gothic design, Late Crusades Era (1291-1399), depicting victorious Generals presenting flags to an enthroned King under archways, the reverse featuring the religious parallel to the same event, the King and Queen giving tribute to the Pope. The upper side in thin tines (intact), the lower in heavy tines (many missing). In modern mahogany frame, double-glazed within mats, to view both sides. OS: 10 3/4" x 9 3/4", the object alone is 5 1/2" x 5".

This is the amended first edition of Pierre Tataret's discussion of Aristotle's Nichomachan Ethics. The cover has been replaced with a 15th Century page from a dutch book of hours and the front flyleaves and last pages of the index are missing. Superb woodcut illustrations include title page with Virgin and Child in a ship. Dimensions: 5 3/4 by 4 by 3/8 inches. Processing and shipping in the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement insurance cost.
Condition:
Cover has been replaced, and there is insect damage and a small hole in the front is piece, which also slightly abraded. Pages have some minor folds and finger marks.
