ANASAZI FOUR CORNERS POTTERY BLACK ON WHITE BOWLNative American, Southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1075 to 1250 CE. An attractive bowl with thick walls made via the traditional coil-and-scrape technique. The vessel features a slightly concave base to rest on, tall walls that culminate in a dense rim adorned with stripes, and a deep basin. Adorning the interior surfaces of the basin is an elaborate decorative program with 5 panels of separated stepped panels and vertical bars, and each panel is connected to its neighbor via coalescing bars. Size: 7.8" W x 3.25" H (19.8 cm x 8.3 cm)

Condition:
Repaired with light adhesive on break lines. Light abrasions and nicks commensurate with age, with minor pitting on exterior surfaces, and fire-darkening to large area of base and small area of exterior beneath rim. Nice preservation to painted motifs within basin.

EXHIBITED ANASAZI FOUR CORNERS POTTERY BOWLNative American, Southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1075 to 1250 CE. A white-ground bowl formed via the coil-and-scrape technique with a round but stable base, tall walls, a thin rim, and a deep basin. Surrounding the basin interior is a black-painted decorative program consisting of alternating columns of vertical stripes and oscillating triangular serrations, all underlined by a single black ring. Size: 6.9" W x 3.3" H (17.5 cm x 8.4 cm)
