INDIAN MOTTLED RED SANDSTONE HEAD, 12TH C. An antique Indian red sandstone head.dated to the 12th C, The carved head features a full rounded face with lips in a contemplative smile, there is detail in the hair, earrings, and the facial features. The head is accompanied by a square wooden block support .
Head only: H. 8 1/2" (21.6 cm)
Provenance: Ken Shores Collection ,acquired in the late 1940s/early 1950s
Condition: good condition with small nick midway down the nose and wear to the stone.
