Ejagham Peoples Headcrest, Nigeria, the ovoid, ochre-colored wood face with coffee bean eyes, arched eyebrows, black triangular ears and an open oval mouth exposing white teeth, with raised concentric circle scarification marks at the middle of the forehead and temples and seven tall black, conical projections each with incised spiral designs representing an elaborate hairdo, the neck attached to a domed, flared base with three rope attachments through holes in the base, h. 19-1/2", w. 6", d. 6".
