PAIR OF CHINESE LACQUER BOXES & 2 KNIVES, CHINESE & SOU...1st & 2nd items: Pair of Chiese hexagonal carved black lacquer boxes, the lid sides and body with carved cloud decoration. The lids with applied mother-of-pearl bat and carved Longevity symbol decoration and the sides with bone or ivory polychrome and inked figural decoration of females and young boys engaging in various activities. 5" H x 6 1/2" dia. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 3rd item: Chinese dagger with stainless steal blade incised with Chinese characters, stars, moons, crosshatching, inscribed "1919". With a brass scabbard and grip decorated with a dragon, phoenix, basket of flowers, and landscape. With a brass clip and leather strap on the reverse side. Both items 20th Century. 4th item: Argentinian Industria Argentina marked Gaucho boot knife with German Ed Wusthof stainless steal blade and .800 two-toned silver plated scabbard and grip with scrolling foliate and bird decoration throughout and clip marked "J58/ IND. ARG/ .800/ P. DONNINI". 13" L. Late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition:
1st & 2nd items: One box with losses to lid edge and scattered minor losses to applied decoration, primarily to the lid and repaired break to the base. The other box missing one side panel and part of the base, minor scattered losses to applied decoration, primarily to lid. Both with overall wear and minor abrasions. 3rd & 4th items: Both items in overall good condition with slight oxidation to blades.
