Patriotic Civil War-Period Banjo 33.5 in. overall no maker's mark one piece dark wood neck and headstock wooden pot with brass rim skin head. Rim adorned with 16 decorative hooks each depicting an American eagle grasping the Union Forever banner.?Lacking bridge strings tuner and tailpiece. This instrument is similar to those seen in Civil War images.AUCTIONEER'S NOTE: It has been called to our attention that this banjo was probably produced after the Civil War ca 1870s-1880s.? Condition: Expected wear including some wear to fretboard with some nicks and scratches.?

The neck is also maple with rosewood fretboard inlaid with abalone shell gambling motif, each representing the fret position, the 20th fret is flanked by "Tony" and Golliwog face. A nice playing banjo, sounds great.
