RENE LALIQUE (FRENCH, 1860-1945) ORIGINALRENE LALIQUE (FRENCH, 1860-1945) ORIGINAL DRAWING, NUDE...Preparatory drawings in graphite, India ink, and dark brown paint on BFK Rives brown paper made by Art Nouveau and Art Deco designer and craftsman Rene Lalique. The drawings of single nude figures and untwined couples are left in their first graphite stages. Lalique's first ideas lead to a refined state in ink and paint of two nude figures facing each other, their bodies entwined by two stretched veils that they hold. Lalique wrote a note underneath a blue wash and ink flower shape on the upper right side of the sheet. These outstanding studies are of museum quality and were acquired directly from the private collection of the descendants of Rene Lalique. Housed in a natural color wooden frame.
