Framed together with a Counsellor-at-Law license obtained by the same man Seth B. Proctor is an accomplished stone and bronze carver as well as a painter whose work has been displayed at museums and has received national and international recognition. The artist was inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 2006. He has been the Featured Master Sculptor at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in South Carolina, the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival in Georgia, and the Easton Waterfowl Festival in Maryland.
This tucked-head stone carving is mounted on a stone base which bears a plaque with the name of the artist, the title, and the year of the work.

(UK, 1769-1830) "Mrs. Bannister", graphite and white chalk on paper, unsigned, a study of the head of Regency Actress Elizabeth Bannister nee Miss Harper (1757-1849), denzien of the Haymarket Theatre, playing Polly in "The Beggar's Opera" in 1778. She garnered one-thousand pound contracts when 100 pounds was a gentleman's annual income, and became the principle soloist singer at the Haymarket until she retired in 1792 to raise the four daughters she had with actor John Bannister, who she had married in 1783. Housed in a gold molded frame under glass and a french-ruled mat captioned with name of artist and subject. OS: 29" x 20 1/2", SS: 19" x 12". Edge toned.
